Hello and Welcome to Mosaic Cottage! My name is: Michelle Legler and I have been an artist/crafter my whole life, a mosaic artist for about 12 years now. I live in the valley of the sun (stroke) :) in Chandler, Arizona. This is how my story began: My grandmother Charlotte, took much pride in my desire to learn how to crochet, knit, sew, paint and craft. Through the years, we did a lot of it together and she was always urging me to craft for a living. Being the stubborn one, I insisted that it was a much easier task to make a living in the corporate world, than it was to figure out how to sell my goods in a small town in Wyoming, not to mention, I was the mother of 4 daughters. Well, a move to Arizona brought about a lot of change. Within a year of our family moving to Arizona, my grandmother followed, as she missed us and WE MISSED HER! Sadly, within 6 months of her moving here, she died. I was so deeply grief stricken, that for the first time in my life, I had no desire to create. This went on for over a year. Then, one night I had a dream that my grandmother came to me. When I awoke I had this great sense of relief that everything was going to be okay. I started creating again and soon my first Mosaic was born. Then came my shop the Mosaic Cottage. I closed it after a year due to an overwhelming amount of orders that made for long hours and endless weeks. I now stay busy creating orders from my home studio and my family is happy to have me back home. I believe I was born to create art and my hope is to bring happiness to others with my creations. You will find a heart in my mosaic pieces with my initial "M" and a star "*" to represent my grandmother's spirit. I think she's watching me from heaven and I hope she's proud thatI'm following my HEART!
