This is one of the many projects
that I'm working on. This is the
pathway leading up to my
house. I decided it was a bit
boring and needed
a...........MOSAIC!!(of course!!)
Well, here's the first step
completed on this project. I
have much work to do!! Can you
guess what the path is going to
say?? You'll have to wait & see!
(Scroll down for next
step)
Well, here's step 2 & 3.
The light pink step is
actually step 2 and the
Journey step is step 3.
Can you guess what it's
going to say yet?
Here is the next step...finally!
Between every step with a
word, is a plain pink step.
And here's the next
one!
And
Next....
And
Next....
And
Next....
FINALLY! After working on this path in
105+ degrees for months, it is DONE!
YAY!!!!!
Every Journey Begins With A Single
Step.....one of my favorite quotes.
Notice that I also planted flowers on
each side of the path. I added a picket
fence and a brick patio in the background.
I think I'm going to add a small pond and
more plants, but for now I'm taking a
break from this area for awhile.
This is in my backyard. My husband
and I built the planters out of old
block fencing. I have a huge scrap
pile of old miscellaneous tile and I
used some of it for the mosaic on
these planters. The purple lantana
that is planted in the planters is
just starting to bloom and the lady
banks roses and bougainvillea are
already popping with color!
The top archway was a trash piece
from a metal shop near my husband's
work. We attached it to the posts
and painted it aqua. I LOVE it!!!
In the background is a pond with a
wine barrel fountain that my husband
and I also built. We have several gold
fish in this pond (if the heron didn't
get them all this week). The two trees
in the background are (R) a Jacaranda
which should be getting purple
blossoms soon and (L) an Oleander
that will be getting white blossoms
soon. I have started a mosaic around
the pond and I will be posting pic-
tures of it as soon as I have it
completed.
Here's the pond during the
spring. I love my pig bench.
It was a Christmas gift a
few years ago from my
husband. (oink)
Here's a picture of the
archway & planter &
pond in the spring. As
you can see, the trees in
the background are in
full bloom!
This is the pond after a long
hot summer! It's still hot, but
they say that yesterday was
our last 100 degree day for the
year. Today's date is Oct 3. I
added the archway so the
honeysuckle could vine up and
give the pond some height. I
planted another vine on the
opposite side...we'll see how it
does.
Here is the butterfly that I just
finished in my backyard next to
the pond. I used mini Italian
vitreous glass tiles and black
grout. I'm not finished with this
wall yet....I have big plans!
Here are a couple views from my
studio door. The post in the
background will soon be holding a
large birdhouse and so will the
aqua post. (I wish the inside of my
studio looked this nice.... it's very
messy)
It's November and the roses are
in bloom again. :-)
I love the look of pink & purple flowers
together.
